Esra Dafidan – vocalsBorn in 1975 (Germany) Esra Dalfidan begins her musical education at the early age of four. After five years of basic musical training she starts taking guitar lessons which inspire her to explore new horizons in classical music in addition to her singing. During this time she wins 1st prices at the renowhed German competition “Jugend musiziert” and extensively tours and records with the “LJZ Orchestra”. After graduating from school she complets her degree in music therapy at the “Fachhochschule Heidelberg” (Germany) in 1998. Esra begins working as a music therapist in neurological rehabilitation and starts parallel to that taking lessons in the field of jazz. During this time she switches her focus from guitar to vocals. In 2001 Esra commences her studies at the “Conservatory of Amsterdam” with a.o. Lydia van Dam, Sylvie Lane, Eileen Fiss, Debora Brown, Edwin Rutten, Ronald Douglas and finishes with her Master degree in 2007 with honours. Esra concentrates on composing her own pieces and formed her group, “Fidan”: a group, which is serving as a platform for her to find the right concept and constellation to realize her own musical ambitions. With her group and own repertoire she wins In Febr. 2007 the 1st price of the Dutch Jazz Competition for vocalists.
Tobias Klein – bass clarinetBorn in Saarbrücken (Germany) Tobias Klein moved to Amsterdam in 1990 and studied saxophone and bass clarinet at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with a. o. Jasper Blom and Harry Sparnaay. He currently (co-) leads and composes for the groups Man Bites Dog, Full Fathom Five, Spinifex Orchestra and Buyukberber/De Joode/Klein/Vatcher. In Amsterdam, Tobias is part of a generation of musicians who are trained in both improvised and contemporary composed music and who have studied techniques and concepts derived from African, Eastern European and Asian music. More recently he has got involved in live-electronics as well. Tobias has performed at, among others, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the MamaJazz Festival in Vilnius, Jazzkaar Tallinn, Chamber Music Festival Riga, Vilnius Jazz Festival, Girona Jazz Festival, the Open Air Jazz in Hamburg, the Time Festival in Gent and Ankara Jazz Festival; he has toured all over Europe, India, Russia and Suriname. He has performed with a.o. John Zorn, Chris Speed and Benoît Delbecq. Tobias is one of the founding members of the Amsterdam-based musicians’ collective and record label TryTone.
Franz von Chossy – pianoBorn in 1979 (Germany) Franz von Chossy starts with classical piano lessons at the age of six. In 1996 he works as a composer for a German theatre group that performs Shakespeare, Moliére and original plays; he also participates in an Improvisation Theatre group as a pianist, creating an improvised interactive dialog with the actors. In 1998 he wins the first prize with Jazzophil in "Jugend Jazzt" (Germany). In the same year he receives a full Scholarship from "Berklee College of Music" (USA). In 1999 he studies at the "Conservatorium van Amsterdam"(The Netherlands) with Rob Madna, Karel Boehlee, Rob van Bavel, Michiel Borstlap and finishes with the "Master Degree of Music" in June 2005.In this period he also studies with Kenny Baron, Gary Dial, Dave Liebman at the "Manhattan School of Music" in New York (USA). He plays with "First Move" in The Netherlands, Belgium and Italy and works as a pianist in the Yaniv Nachum quartet for the Dutch television show "Flogiston" and the "National Wetenschapsquiz" (VPRO network).
Sean Fasciani – double bassBorn in 1979 (USA),Graduated from High Mowing school in 1998.Between 1999-2001 he studies at "Berklee College of Music" (USA).He moves to The Netherlands in 2001 to study with Ernst Glerum and Frans van der Hoeven at the "Conservatorium van Amsterdam".Over the years he takes lessons with Nat Reeves, Harvey Swartz, Carlos Lopez, Whit Browne...
Uli Genenger – drumsBorn in 1971 (Germany), Uli Genenger starts playing drums at the age of seven. His musical education includes classical as well as jazz. After finishing school he lives in different places around the world and studies at various academies:"Drummers Institut" (Düsseldorf, Germany),"Drummers Collective", (New York, USA), "HFM-Hans Eisler" (Berlin, Germay), “Conservatorium van Amsterdam” (The Netherlands),graduating with the "Master Degree of Music"Among his teachers there are well known musicians such as Bill Stewart, Ari Honig, Trilok Gurtu, Kim Plainfield, Gene Jackson, Lukas van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse, Martijn Vink....Presently he is playing on international festivals with artists such as Aki Takase, Gephard Ulman, Gijs Hendriks, Michael Moore, Eddy Matinez, Fidan, Koan, Tyler Woods, Kubat, Meike Gossman, Maryland, Sam, Efrat Alony, Super700...
